WILL THE DUTCH COAST REMAIN COAST?

As I explained in Airbnb on track the Dutch tourism industry increases significantly. Within the following three years 6.200 new recreation houses will be build along the Dutch coast. A real shame if you ask me, I think the coast as it is is very characteristic for The Netherlands.

And I'm not the only one who thinks so: more than a hundred thousand people signed the petition against this massive rise of leisure destinations. It's great that we're doing so great concerning tourism and I do get that there's a lot of money involved in this industry. But I think it's a shame if such a characteristic part of NL really disappears into a grove of resorts, like I once experienced on a holiday in Egypt, Sharm el Sheikh. Beautiful rural area, but the hotels came out of the ground like weeds. I do cheer for improving leisure facilities and possibilities, but not instead of nature.
